Glass Facades: Conventional, Semi-Structural and Structural

Glass facades clad buildings on the outside and the inside. They suit new builds and renovations, and large glass areas serve as a natural source of light. They are common in showrooms and similar spaces.

By combining different aluminum profiles and glass, a building can be enclosed completely, on one side only, on the front only, or in any combination of these. Each building gets its own character.

In a conventional (continuous) facade, the horizontal and vertical aluminum supports are visible at full size and form a grid with the glass panels. Opening vents turn around a vertical and/or bottom horizontal axis. The advantages are good sealing, conventional opening, easy maintenance and an affordable price.

In a semi-structural facade, the glass panels dominate. The load-bearing profiles are hidden, and only a minimal aluminum holder, about 2.5 cm wide, is visible around the glass. Depending on the system, opening vents of different types can be installed.

A structural facade has no visible aluminum load-bearing profiles. The glass is bonded to the aluminum profiles, so only a smooth glass surface is visible from outside.
